Such a beautiful, fancy and trendy word, but what exactly is entrepreneurship?
Here is the official definition: the activity of setting up a business or businesses, taking on financial risks in the hope of profit. In other words: the act of starting a business and continuing to be an active participant in that business’ operations.
In this day and age, the word “work” is synonym with “freedom” and “opportunity.” More so than ever before, the connectivity of the Internet has enabled individuals to leverage their skills. Many independent workers and entrepreneurs are using their talent in order to pursue a career on their own terms.
From agile-minded freelancers to entrepreneurs following their passion, anything goes! Some people are even cashing in on their creative side, free time, and hobbies to generate a nice side income!
One of the benefits of doing work from home is the possibility to gain more schedule flexibility. You’d no longer be constrained to a predefined set of working hours, and you’d be able to handle your workload as you see fit. As long as you meet your deadlines, you’re free to manage your day according to your needs and preferences!
Working from home is also an excellent opportunity to stay in a safe, comfortable environment, where you can move at your own pace. This can be particularly important if you want to spend more time with your family and be there for them instead of spending many hours stuck in an office every day!
Then, Who can become an entrepreneur? How can one do it? What can one do it?
Well, I am no expert, but I’ve learned a few things along the way, and here are some tips:
- Likely, your main goal is to make a profit out of your business or businesses. But rather than choosing something that is evidently profitable, it is very important that you choose something that involves some level of passion or at least a decent amount of knowledge. Only then, you will willingly put the necessary effort and time to grow your business.
- Be unique! Don’t try to copy. Be yourself, let your business reflects who you are, your ideas, your philosophy. Connect with your costumers, clients, readers, followers.
- Learn from others’ mistakes. There is not enough time to learn from your own mistakes. So, learn from others’! Read books about entrepreneurship, biographies from entrepreneurs. I’m convinced that you will encounter a few ‘no-nos’ for ideas or strategies that you thought it would be the right choice.
- Plan and budget. It’s very easy to loose yourself if you don’t have a goal and a plan. Research and create strategies that will lead you to achieving your goal.
- Ask for help, delegate, recruit. You don’t have to do it all. It’s OK to recruit talented professionals to help you implement your ideas.
If you drink coffee, expand your supply! You will likely need it. If you don’t, well… I think you’ve got the idea.
Whatever you choose to do, remember that you are in charge, you are in control. Believe in yourself. You can do it.
